REDDITCH CELEBRATES 30 YEARS

5th October 2017

It was a memorable day for the Redditch church on Sabbath 30 September, as they celebrated 30 years of church organisation. For this occasion, the local town hall was used for the service with local church members as well as attendees from other Adventist churches DSC_5328coming together in celebration.

With over 200 in attendance, including as a guest the Mayor of Redditch, Cllr Jenny Wheeler. The service reflected a jubilant and vibrant atmosphere. The mayor gave a speech chronicling her own faith in God and how persevering in times of difficulty and challenges is what God calls us to do.

Local minister, Pastor Micah Campbell, who was ordained the week before, led out in welcoming each one and introducing the various guests on the day. He brought smiles to the faces of the congregation as members were encouraged to greet their neighbour and welcome them on a personal level.

Pastor Alan Hush, DSC_5310North England Conference (NEC) Executive Secretary was the main speaker for the occasion. As a former pastor for Redditch, it was a homecoming day for him and his family. Pastor Hush encouraged church members to remain faithful using Joseph as an example of his loyalty to God even during his most testing time.DSC_5264

The constant message throughout the day was one of having gratitude for God leading Redditch church this far. Although still young in faith, the church has survived thus far in a time when many churches across different denominations are closing down or DSC_5362being replaced by other social community organisations.

The celebration continued throughout the day with an afternoon programme of founding members of the church sharing their experiences and further tributes from Pastor Richard Jackson, NEC President and Pastor Richard Daly, British Union Conference Communication director. The day ended with an evening concert with groups and artistes such as Trio, Handsworth group, and saxophonist Mark Bunny.

We congratulate Pastor Campbell and the Redditch church and pray for their continued impact in their local community and local church.
