20th December 2018
This week we have seen the political shenanigans in Parliament surrounding the Brexit vote and leadership challenge of Theresa May. As is commonly said 'a week in politics is a long time', yet despite all that has happened this week, we are still no clearer as to what will happen for Britain's future in the European Union. Indeed, one certain thing about life is its uncertainty.
As Bible-believing Christians, we can take our assurance and confidence of the future from God's Word when He declares in Jeremiah 29:11, "I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper and to give you a hope and a future." That future is expressed in the present promise of an abundant life despite the enemy's attempts "to steal and kill and destroy" (John 10:10) and the hope of a better future ultimately fulfilled with the return of Christ.
As we come to the end of another year, we have seen within the British Union Conference (BUC) how God has been exalted through the many outreach activities churches are doing both within the community and in edifying the local church. BUC News has been blessed to publish countless hundreds of news stories and events that shows a church being busy for the Lord. With over 5,000 subscribers not just from within the BUC but also many countries abroad, we seek to be a platform to provide inspiration through current news and information.
I would like to thank all subscribers and contributors to BUC News for your continued support. I seek to make this medium a place for accurate news, so we can avoid the many 'fake Adventist news' that goes around. But it's also a forum where the church can find a place of unity knowing that despite all our various forms of congregations and worship styles, we all seek to do the same thing and that is to make the love of God known to others and provide hope of something better to come.
May God richly bless you as we end this year 2018 and soon to enter a new one.
