Stanborough School's Centenary Celebrations
25th January 2019
On Sabbath 6th and Sunday 7th July 2019, the British Union Conference (BUC) will be joining Stanborough Primary and Secondary School in celebrating 100 years of Adventist Education.
In the autumn of 1918, Stanborough College (forerunner to Newbold College) opened an elementary department for the children living on the Stanborough Park Estate. The Watford church formally adopted this elementary department and turned it into a church school. When the school opened on January 13 in 1919, thirty-one children presented themselves for enrolment. The school was divided into two divisions and all standards were represented, with a grammar school curriculum followed in the upper division. (The Missionary Worker, Vol 23.) The school has continued to serve the Church workers and members in the locality, as well as those travelling from further afield.
The purpose of the Centenary Celebrations is to:
Celebrate Adventist Education and the successes and achievements of Stanborough School, past and present
Connect past, present and prospective staff, pupils, parents with the Church and local community
Inspire through worship, excellence, creativity and relevance
Engage through variety, fun, food, friendliness and fellowship for all the family
… all to the honour and glory of God.
We extend a warm invitation for all past, present (and future) pupils, parents, staff and friends of the school, to join us for this special occasion on Stanborough Park.
