PEACE STUDENTS SHARE THEIR FAITH
14th July 2017
PEACE (Practical Evangelism & Adventist Christian Education) started on Monday 12 June with 13 students from the NEC, SEC, Scottish Mission, Germany and Austria. All have come with a strong desire to come closer to God and to be equipped for His service. This year we are located in Birmingham at the Yardley Seventh-day Adventist church and are working closely with Pastor Steve Palmer.
Over the past few weeks, the Outreach Coordinator Joseph Philpott, has spent time teaching, training and practically showing the students how to do evangelistic outreach in the local community. The students have been enthused with a passion to spread the gospel, Joseph shares an encouraging summary below:
"On Wednesday 5 July, the PEACE students began doing door-to-door evangelism with remarkable success. At PEACE, we define success as positively planting a seed in someone's life and the students did just that.
"Leading up to this day, the students had been put through a rigorous training programme to prepare them to share their faith through this method of evangelism. This included, but not limited to, working through best practice principles, some basic dos and don'ts, role playing to get the feel of what it's like on the doors and hearing stories/experiences from individuals who have previously done this work.
"One of the students, Luke, met a man in his late 20s, who showed a passionate desire to study the Bible. He will be getting married (at least at the time of writing this) in 3 days' time, and his fiancée and he have been having Bible studies at the church where they are tying the knot. These studies were in preparation for marriage but since they are now getting married, their studies have come to an end to their disappointment. Luke offered him and his wife the opportunity to continue to study the Bible to his and his wife's delight! They will be starting in 2 weeks' time once they've gotten married and have returned from their honeymoon. Do pray for this couple as they embark on one of the greatest adventures of life, marriage.
"The students shared their faith, gave out engaging literature, scheduled Bible studies, prayed with individuals and connected the local church with the community. PEACE is passionate about equipping, empowering and enabling individuals to positively impact their local communities with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Pray for us as we work with this year's cohort and pray for the work that is being done in Birmingham."
The students are experiencing the commission of Jesus where He said "Go therefore and make disciples..." (Matt 28:19) as they are trained in the day and sent out every Wednesday and Sunday into the community.
