A SPECIAL ORDINATION
10th October 2016
The Scottish Mission is happy to welcome into it's ranks the talent of new officers, following the Union Session that took place in July. The Scottish Mission Day of Fellowship took place on 24 September, and it was filled with headline experiences. The Mission has had some adjustments in it's leadership as a result of changes voted for by the delegates who attended the Union Session.
For the last number of years, the mission was blessed with the work of Pr Paul Lockham and Mr Victor Pilmoor in their respective offices as BUC Executive Secretary and Treasurer. They are now followed up by Pr John Surridge and Mr Earl Ramharacksingh. We warmly welcome them both to Scotland and pray that they will be blessed by God for the work ahead of them.
The office of the president of the Scottish Mission has also been affected. Pr Paul Tompkins has arrived to step into the office of president, replacing Pr Bernie Holford who has served here for the last 7 years. During this time the mission has seen many highlights and some changes, and Karen has complimented Bernie beautifully in their ministry here in Scotland. They will be missed and we pray that God will bless them as they continue their ministries in the South England Conference and the Trans European Division respectively. Pr Paul and his wife, Dawn are warmly welcomed to the Scottish Mission and the members pray that he and Dawn will feel the warmth of the Scottish people and that they will soon be well part of the family.
When the stage finally cleared, it was the turn of Pr Claudiu Popescu to step up. The day belonged to him and it was time for his ordination. Pr Claudiu has started his ministry in Ireland and has lived in Scotland for the last 3 years. He ministers in the west of Scotland and also leads the Scottish Youth Department.
After the very appropriate sermon given by Dr Daniel Duda, a few words by good friend and mentor Pr David Neal, reminded the congregation of some of the wonderful experiences Claudiu had in Ireland. The then charge was read by Pr Llew Edwards, Ministerial Secretary of the British Union. The rest of the Union and Division officers present, joined by all the Scottish Mission pastors stepped onto the stage, taking part in a prayer of dedication for Claudiu.
After the ordination, Pr Claudiu shared with the congregation a little about himself and about his vision for life. It is fair to say that the Scottish Mission is blessed to have him in their ranks. May Claudiu's ministry grow and may he experience peace and fulfilment in serving God.
