Birthday Celebrations for Ninette Finck ‒ 100 years old
30th November 2017
The oldest member of Wimbledon church celebrated her 100th birthday on 5 November 2017, and on Sabbath 11 November the church laid out a lavish celebration lunch for her.
Ninette, is originally from Mauritius and was a headmistress of a primary school, before relocating to London with her family almost 60 years ago. She comes from a family of Adventists and was actively involved in the church. After relocating to London, Ninette attended the Finchley church. Later on the family moved to Sunbury-on-Thames and she joined Wimbledon church where her brother, Dr Karl Noel, was an elder.
Since then she has been attending Wimbledon church for about 40 years, serving the Lord faithfully in various ministries such as Music, Choir, Welfare (formerly Dorcas), Deaconesses, Flower arrangement/Gardening, Children's Sabbath School, as well as helping others when she saw a need.
Ninette was active in all these ministries well past her 90th birthday. We thank the Lord for giving Ninette good health. She wore high heels to church until a couple of years ago ‒ now she can still walk unaided and can even climb up the stairs (but without the high heels!). Almost 100 people attended the church celebration including one of Ninette's sons, and two of her neighbours. They were impressed by the generosity, kindness and friendliness of the church members. They also noted the genuine affection the church has for Ninette, and the loving way elderly members are cared for.
Pastor Arthur Campbell gave a speech and thanked the Lord for Ninette's milestone birthday. Ninette was presented with a bagful of gifts from Wimbledon church. Word got around that the Wimbledon church has a member who is 100 years old, and birthday cards and best wishes also came from many other churches such as Kingston, Wallington and Hackbridge.
The Women's, and Hospitality Ministries did a wonderful job in providing a sumptuous lunch and a beautiful cake. Various hardworking volunteers helped to prepare before, during and after the lunch to make it a memorable day for Ninette and others who had attended.
May the Lord continue to bless Ninette with good health and wisdom for many more years to come.
