Community Health Expo
7th December 2017
On Sunday 26 November 2017, under the motto 'Be happy! Be healthy!', the Harlesden Romanian and Watford Romanian churches organised a joint Health Expo event at Sangam Centre in the Burnt Oak area. It was the third Health Expo that the Romanian Seventh-day Adventist churches have organised, which started in 2015.
The team of over 25 people including a medical doctor offered free checks and consultations such as cholesterol level, blood sugar level, blood pressure, body fat index, lung peak flow, ear check-up, massage, medical advice and free literature on health-related issues. With over 175 participants from the community the event was a real success – most of the participants being visibly impressed not just by the team effort itself but mostly because the Seventh-day Adventist Church is out there trying to help people from the community.
As SEC President, Dr Emmanuel Osei commented, "This is what we are about – being relevant within our community. Even if the people do not come and worship with you, minister to them anyway." The Romanian Seventh-day Adventist churches in the SEC strongly believe that we need to be where people around us are, reaching them with a message of comfort and healing backed by intentional actions that are designed for their benefit.
