5th July 2017

It was a special day for those affiliated to the Caribbean country of Guyana. Not only was Sabbath 1 July a Day of Fellowship but also a celebration of 130 years of Adventism within the country. The special day attracted over 300 people providing a wonderful atmosphere of worship and praise. This year the venue was the Adelaide Hall, at the Prendergast College in south east London. This annual event not only draws Guyanese from around the Conference, but many other nationalities were in attendance in joint celebration.

The theme for the day was 'Sowing Hope, Seeing Miracles' and the guest DSC_3803speaker was Pastor Allan Chichester presently from Canada. He expanded on the theme providing words of encouragement and spiritual edification using personal experiences to amplify his points. Terrance Blackman, President of the United Kingdom Chapter of Adventist Guyanese (UCAG) gave the official welcomes to guests, ministers and Conference and Union representatives. Sharing the success of the efforts and initiatives made by the UCAG throughout the year, Terrance thanked the members for the financial and spiritual support that they have contributed to achieve tDSC_3821he projects that had been earmarked to fulfil. Some of these projects involved providing assistance to churches and missions within Guyana.

Guyanese ministers also involved in the support of the day included Pastors Kirk Thomas, Wilfred Blake, and Kwesi Moore together with committee members of the UCAG.

Worship through music was well featured through a vibrant praise team who featured prominently throughout the service, leading in an array of hymns and praise and worship songs, providing an uplifting atmosphere.

Fellowship lunch is also a highlight for Guyanese days and provided a perfect outlet for conversation and catch-up time.

The afternoon programme entitled 'An afternoon of Abundant Praise', had as its special fDSC_3842eature, a journey of celebration of 130 years of Adventism in Guyana which involved inspirational gospel music, drama and the spoken word.

It was a joyful day of worship in celebration of Guyanese worship and the resultant efforts and local projects can be achieved when done in common identity.
